It’s all systems go as the Mother City’s National First Division teams gear up for their preseason activities.
With less than two months till the start of the 2015-16 NFD season, the off the field action heats up as the 1 July 2015 marks the opening of the transfer window.
The window period provides teams with an opportunity to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign, looking to put last season’s mistakes to bed as promotion to the countries elite league being every chairman’s ultimate dream.
The road to last season’s promotion has not been the sweetest ride for the five Cape teams, NFD rookies Cape Town All Stars finishing as the best placed Cape side securing fifth position in their maiden season.
Looking to make amends for last season’s inconsistent performance is none other than promotional driven Milano United, who wasted no time in snatching up Coach Boebie Solomons after last season’s heroics with All Stars.
Grassy Park-based Milano along with Santos have already shifted into preseason mode as both teams reported for duty on Monday, 22 June.
The rest of the Cape teams however will return to preseason action in July, with Gugulethu-based All Stars scheduled to announce their new head coach in the first week.
Also set to make an official head coach announcement will be FC Cape Town, the Parow-based team will be looking to their new man at the helm to guide them to the promise land.
First up though, will be a return to preseason training on the 6 July for The African Beasts along with their neighbours Vasco Da Gama before those ambitions can be achieved.
