CT All Stars 4-1 Black Leopards: Stars find their shine in style

Cape Town All Stars recorded their first victory at home, entertaining the crowd at Athlone Stadium to a 4-1 thriller, as they outshone Black Leopards on a warm Tuesday evening.

Stars having made three changes to their playing personnel, were twinkling in the opening exchanges as the visitors from Limpopo absorbed the early pressure.

The early stages of the match saw Leopards taking control with some great passing in and around the Stars box, but the Stars defense stood firm.

The home side’s counter attacking approach paid off as debutant Houston Hills’ cross found the head of Zaphaniah “Zef” Mbokoma, who scored his second goal of the season and gave the host a 1-0 lead into the half time break.

The second half saw Stars showing no signs of allowing Leopards to claw their way back into the match. Mbokoma and Hills combined once again and doubled the lead for the host, with Hills finding the back of the net the this time around with a goal on debut.

In the 67th minute the Leopards keeper, Jacob Mokhasi was left to see Stars as Amigo Memela’s low driven shot was too potent to keep out, giving them a 3-0 lead as the crowd irrupted.

A laps in concentration in the Stars defense saw Thomas Sweswe rise the highest to score with the head, giving the visitors some hope. However, it was not to be as Salmaan King responded within a minute, making 4-1 to the host.
