All Stars look to end African Beasts unbeaten run

Cape Town All Stars host FC Cape Town in yet another exciting Cape derby at the Athlone Stadium on Friday evening

Friday sees the return of NFD action after an international break, with all teams having completed one third of their matches. Friday’s action will mark the 7th Cape Town Derby of the season as Cape Town All Stars host FC Cape Town.

The Cape Derby has so far produced some intense encounters with 11 goals being scored in six matches. The visiting African Beasts are currently the only unbeaten Cape side in the league, while hosts Igugu lekapa have not lost a Cape Derby.

The two Cape sides have a growing reputation as the draw masters of the league. The African Beasts are currently in fifth position on the log with seven draws from ten matches, while Stars finds themselves in 14th position having drawn 6 matches.

The respective coaches will be looking to convert those draws into victories as the African Beasts chase promotion and Stars looks to stay clear from the relegation zone. Players to watch are the skilful forward Amigo Mamela and experience campaigner Brent Carelse who is shining in the Stars camp.

While striker Siphiwe Gwala and defender Morne Davids are thriving for the African Beasts with two goals each.

The two sides collide on Friday evening at the Athlone Stadium at 19:30.
