Cape Town’s five NFD clubs will all be looking to get some consistency in their games as the latest round of action approaches this weekend.
Yet another crunch derby encounter awaits the Mother City on Saturday, as Cape Town’s highest scoring side Santos, with eleven goals in nine matches, travel to the NNK Rugby Stadium to take on FC Cape Town, a side which leaked the most goals - 15.
The momentum will be with the Peoples’ Team, who are currently in 11th position having secured seven points from their last three outings, while the 13th placed African Beasts will be looking to crawl back from their three-match losing streak.
"It's been a long slog for us, we didn't start off as we wanted to, but the guys are putting it together now,” Santos head coach Zeca Marques explained.
“The sense of belief is back in the team, and heading into our next derby clash, I don't have to motivate the guys too much. We need take the positives from our previous matches (wins over African Warriors and Black Leopards) and move forward. Hopefully we'll continue to score more as we concede less, which is a good plus," added Marques.
Also on Saturday, down at the Athlone Stadium, log-leading Cape Town All Stars host on-form Mbombela United, while Vasco Da Gama (12th) travel to Thohoyandou, to take on struggling Black Leopards.
The action heats up on Sunday when mid-table Milano United’s defence will have to be on full alert, when they welcome the high-scoring Baroka FC to the Athlone Stadium, the Limpopo outfit having netted 23 goals in ten matches.
All matches kick-off at 3.30pm.
