Vasco looking to score with Cousins

The NFD action returns after a week-long FIFA International break, the Cape sides looking to end the first half of the season on a high as the penultimate round of league fixtures for 2015 kick off this weekend.

With the departure of Head Coach Tony De Nobrega, 13th-placed Vasco Da Gama will be hoping that the appointment of Noel Cousins, a deadly marksman in his day, to the caretaker position, will see them turn the corner against fifth-placed Highlands Park on Saturday.

Parow Park has not been a good hunting ground this season for Vasco, who have scored only three goals in five home matches, as they welcome the league's best defensive side in the Lions of the North.

”It's not that we have not played well, it’s just that we have not been taking our chances," Vasco Team Manager Kenny Gertse said.

"We have made some quality signings, matched our opposition by playing some good football, but found ourselves being unlucky in front of goal. The mood has always been good, but quality signings don’t guarantee results. We just need to gel as a team and will be looking to turn things around against Highlands Park,” he concluded.

Saturday sees two away fixtures scheduled for the KZN Province, as FC Cape Town (15th) clash with Thanda Royal Zulu host, while Milano United (9th) square off against the high-flying Royal Eagles.

The local action heats up on Sunday as Santos (10th) look to extend their five match unbeaten streak, hosting AmaZulu at the Athlone Stadium. Meanwhile Cape Town All Stars are looking to bounce back after taking just a point in their last two matches - they travel to the Limpopo for a top-of-the-table clash against log-leaders Baroka FC.

All matches kick-off at 3.30pm.
